You are getting more than one quote in a town full of them. Good. Here is the honest version of that comparison, including the part where the other guy wins.
Sometimes they win. A volume builder has more crews, so they can start sooner. If you want water in the yard by August, your kids are young, and you expect to move inside five years, book the company with an opening. We would rather say that than talk you into a project you did not want.
What you are trading is who shows up.
