A vinyl liner is only as smooth as the floor under it. Many builders use a sand floor. Sand can shift and show footprints. Jason builds every floor with vermiculite instead. It sets up firm and smooth, so the liner lays flat and stays flat.

If you never want to think about a liner, look at fiberglass pools or gunite pools. Jason builds both and will tell you which one fits.

I build every vinyl floor with vermiculite. On a liner replacement, a sand or dirt floor has to come out before the new liner goes in. I'd rather build yours right the first time.
